D.W. Roach, born David Wayne Roach Jr., is an American fantasy and historical fiction novelist whose work explores myth, warfare, heroism, and the eternal struggle between civilization and chaos. Drawing heavily from Norse mythology, Viking history, and medieval lore, his stories are inspired by ancient texts such as the Hávamál, Völuspá, and Grímnismál, alongside the legendary works of and Robert E. Howard (Conan). A former United States Marine and longtime global physical security professional, Roach brings real-world experience in combat training, survival, and military history into his fiction, grounding mythic worlds in grit, realism, and the harsh realities of the ancient world. His novels often feature brutal combat, unforgiving wilderness, flawed heroes, forgotten gods, and the ever-present shadow of the supernatural. Outside of writing, Roach is an avid outdoorsman, farmer, and hunter with a deep appreciation for frontier living, history, and the wild places that shaped our ancestors. He resides in the Lone Star State with his wife and children, where he continues to write stories of warriors, monsters, and the enduring human spirit.
